Lessons extracted from real planning, rehearsal and show-day decisions.

Editorial principle

This is where operational experience becomes useful knowledge for clients, venues and the wider industry.

Production decisions explained

WHAT CONTROL
LOOKS LIKE.

Dependable live production is created through a chain of ordinary decisions made early, documented clearly and tested together.

01

Redundancy follows consequence

Not every component needs duplication. The right question is what an interruption would affect, how quickly the team could recover, and which practical backup path protects the programme.

02

Rehearsal tests the system between systems

Individual departments can test successfully while handovers still fail. Cue-to-cue rehearsal reveals timing gaps between speakers, content, audio, lighting, cameras and stage movement.

03

Content control is technical control

Late decks, untested formats and unclear version ownership can destabilise an otherwise sound production. Intake deadlines, naming, review and operator handoff belong in the technical plan.

04

More loudspeakers can mean less noise

Well-positioned distributed coverage may deliver clearer speech at lower local levels than forcing a small number of sources to carry the entire room.

05

Change needs a decision path

Live teams handle change calmly when they know who can approve it, which departments it affects, how much time remains and when the safest answer is no.

06

Strike is part of delivery

The production is not complete at final blackout. Safe dismantling, equipment reconciliation, venue restoration and captured lessons close the operating cycle.
